Fire at Grade II listed old sessions house in Sleaford




Firefighters are still on the scene of a fire that broke out at a Grade II listed former courthouse.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue firefighters were called to Market Place, Sleaford just before 5.30pm last night (Wednesday, February 5), following a fire at the old Sessions House.

Crews remained on the scene for several hours, and used ten appliances and an aerial ladder platform (ALP) to tackle the fire.

Firefighters remain at the incident this morning (Thursday, February 7). Crews from Stamford and Skegness are also there to help dampen the remaining hot spots.

Further investigations are also being carried out into the cause of the fire.

Until safe to re-open, Northgate remains closed and Eastgate is reduced to one lane. However, Westgate has reopened.

Nearby residents were also advised to keep doors and windows shut due to the smoke.
