Police catch drink driver when he stops to urinate in Heckington layby on way to McDonald’s
A drink driver was spotted by police after he stopped to urinate in a layby.
Dominic Luke Hubberley was heading to McDonald’s for food after a night out when nature called along Sleaford Road in Heckington.
This led to the 21-year-old being handed a 17-month ban and ordered to pay £603 when he pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Boston magistrates on Wednesday (February 28).
“In the early hours of Saturday, February 10, police saw a Land Rover stationary in a layby and the driver was urinating into bushes nearby,” said prosecutor Paul Wood.
Farmworker Hubberley, of Mayflower Drive, Heckington, gave a reading of 61 micrograms per 100ml of breath.

The legal limit is 35mcg.
“He said he had been to the Nag’s Head pub where he had drunk two pints and then to a Young Farmers’ do where he drank two more pints,” Mr Wood added.
“Unwisely he was driving his vehicle to McDonald’s as he was feeling peckish and stopped for a wee.”
Defending Hubberley, Rebecca Freitas described her client getting behind the wheel as a ‘stupid mistake’.
“He would like to apologise to the court for his behaviour. He is of previous good character.”
Hubberley was handed a 17-month driving ban, which could be reduced by 17 weeks if he completes the drink driver awareness course.
He was also fined £370 and ordered to pay the £148 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
