Lincolnshire County Council’s £450k scheme at Hulls Drove, which links Holbeach Drove to the A16 near Crowland, aims to fix road’s issues

Bosses hope that a £458,000 scheme of works will help to solve the issues suffered on a busy road.

Hulls Drove, which links Holbeach Drove to the A16 near Crowland, has been closed for much of this month while Lincolnshire County Council embarks on a major improvement scheme.

Last year emergency services were called to the road after a pothole managed to damage five vehicles in the space of a few minutes.

The works, which are due to finish in early February, involves improving the foundations of this road before adding a new surface.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "We are able to get on with the first phase of this considerable resurfacing work at Hulls Drove.

“It’s an extensive job that will replace a section of the drought damaged road with new asphalt-reinforcement material to improve the road’s resilience.

"This programme of works is a large schedule of work which will have a very quick and lasting positive affect on those who regularly use the road.

“Unfortunately, there is just no way we can do this level of work without having the road closure in place for the safety of the crew and other road users. I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding whilst we get this improvement done.”

A diversion route is in place while work is taking place.

It is B1166 Hulls Drove/Drove Road/Main Road - B1168 Holbeach Drove Gate - B1168 New River Gate - B1168 Jekil’s Bank - B1168 Raven’s Gate - B1165 Raven’s Bank - B1165 Millgate - B1165 Hurdletree Bank - B1165 Broadwater Lane - B1357 Fen Gate - B1357 Roman Road - B1357 Moulton Chapel Road - A16 Spalding Bypass to B1166 - B1166 James Road - B1166 Hulls Drove and vice versa.
