£475k funding for new classroom as Surfleet Primary School’s Wildlife Warrior Project dream looks set to become reality
A primary school’s Wildlife Warrior Project looks set to become a reality - after being awarded almost half-a-million pounds for a new classroom.
Surfleet Primary School head Rick Chipperfield hopes the new facility will allow a mobile teaching area to become a communal garden, allowing youngsters to master green-fingered fun.
A total of £475,000 was secured from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), which supports various schools and colleges in carrying out vital building or repair work for the benefit of students and teachers.
The money will finance the construction of a brand-new modular classroom, complete with cloakroom and toilets, which will allow the school to benefit from improved facilities and an increase in available teaching areas.
“The removal of the old mobile will also allow headteacher Rick Chipperfield to achieve his vision of creating a communal garden, allowing children to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, allowing them to gain practical science knowledge,” a Surfleet Primary statement said.
“This is the final stage of what is dubbed the Wildlife Warrior Project.”
Work is estimated to be completed within the 2025-2026 academic year.
