To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS, Johnson Community Hospital in Spalding hosted an afternoon tea party for patients and guests.

Hospital staff put together a 'walk through the decades', giving an insight into how the NHS has changed since 1948.

Attending the party and enjoying the delicious cakes were Friends of Johnson Community Hospital Coun Elizabeth Sneath, Hope Wells, Janet Bettinson and Steve Weatherley-Barton (chair) and Sue Wray and Julia Rodwell (chair) of Spalding Hospital Foundation.

Highlight of the afternoon was when Welland Ward sister Jennie Gittens and cook Penny Collins cut the celebratory cake, baked and decorated by Penny.

Jennie said: “We had a lovely afternoon and the patients and their families enjoyed it. It was nice to have a variety of visitors on the ward and a special thank you to Penny for the wonderful cakes she made and decorated.”
