Lincolnshire Makers Market held at Spalding’s Sessions House

Independent traders showcased their products in the spectacular surrounds of Spalding’s Sessions House on Saturday (report by Penelope Baxter).

The Lincolnshire Makers Market attracted a host of crafty sellers – with everything from handmade candles, ceramics and chutney to sea-glass jewellery, hand-turned wood, embroidered images or even recycled cutlery.

Organiser Jodie Mason, a beekeeper, said there were 45 stalls in total – with some people travelling long distances to check out what the sellers had to offer.

She said the pandemic made people cherish the talents of local traders even more.

Jodie, who runs Lincolnshire Honey, said: “As a result of Covid, we have become more appreciative of what is available to us on our doorstep.”

Sessions House owner Oliver Sneath said he was impressed by the ‘incredible diversity of businesses in the area’ and is looking forward to hosting it again next year.

He pinpointed the unusual chilli flavoured ‘hot honey’ and pineapple jam made by Chilli Fever as a highlight.

The Lincolnshire Makers Market will return to the Sessions House next year.

In the meantime, the Merry Makers Market is due to take place at Springfields on Saturday December 2.

More than 90 stalls are expected in a bid to help people with their Christmas shopping.
