Crowland Cares enjoys return to normality with event at Ye Olde Abbey Hotel
Community spirit was in the air as town residents made a return to normality.
Crowland Cares has been serving the town since 1995, hosting events such as lunch clubs, The Forget Me Not Cafe and the South Holland Voluntary Car Service.
As many of these outings couldn’t take place due to the pandemic, a number of residents have found themselves isolated and apprehensive to go out.
But in a bid to return to normality, Crowland Cares organised a free event at Ye Olde Abbey Hotel, attended by more than 40 people.
They were treated to a two-course lunch, refreshments, raffle and entertainment.
Visitor Mick Goodman said: “It was very generous and a lovely meal. Thank you so much for getting us back together again.”
Denis Golding said he enjoyed meeting people he hadn’t seen in a long time, while Sue Keeney praised the food and said she loved getting back to normality.
“It was the best day in the last two years,” added Betty Slater.
The event, held on February 16, was funded by the Barchester Charity Foundation. Crowland Cares took time to thank the publicans at Ye Olde Abbey Hotel for hosting them.
Parish councillor Graham Searle, who volunteers with Crowland Cares, said the day went very well.
