Take a sneak peek inside Spalding's historic Fulney Hall - which has been transformed into LightSpeed Broadband's HQ

A landmark building in Spalding has been given a new lease of life as a regional broadband HQ - and will soon open its doors to the public.

LightSpeed Broadband revealed last May that it was making Fulney Hall its home, and since then has given the Grade II listed 19th century building a revamp.

The historic hall - on Holbeach Road near Springfields - had been empty after recently being home to a childcare business - but is now the working base for LightSpeed’s customer service, network and operations teams.

The Spalding Guardian can today exclusively reveal the transformation it has undergone with a series of before and after photos.

The ‘LightSpeed Lounge’ will also soon welcome members of the public who will be able to pop in for a demonstration, try out a device or ask questions about the firm’s gigabit broadband service.

LightSpeed worked with Peterborough-based commercial interior designers Cann Creative and office design and fit out specialists, Stamford Interiors, to revive the interior.

Joanne King, LightSpeed Broadband chief customer officer, said: “It has been a pleasure to create an exciting, creative and practical space for both our team and customers.

“Fulney Hall is a wonderful historic building with some beautiful and unique features and it has been a real treat to have the opportunity to sensitively bring it back to life. We have really enjoyed working alongside such talented local businesses to make the most of the character of the building.

“We’re particularly excited about our new LightSpeed Lounge which will be opening soon. Customers will be able to drop in and meet our locally based customer service team and experience the difference of gigabit broadband speeds.”

Nichola McCann, Cann Creative director said: “We were delighted to be asked by LightSpeed Broadband to help realise their aspirations for their new office in Spalding.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with the team and breathe life back to Fulney Hall. We hope we have created a flexible, agile and informal workspace for the team which they will enjoy collaborating and working in.”

Stuart Tansley, director of Stamford Interiors, commented: “It’s been really exciting to work with LightSpeed Broadband and Cann Creative to sensitively update Fulney Hall to its former glory and create a workable space for the team.

“As a local business ourselves using local tradesmen, it’s brilliant to see a new business coming to the area supporting and working with Lincolnshire people.”

The rejuvenated building is at the heart of an operation that has created 30 local jobs and employs more than 100 people across the whole East of England.

LightSpeed connected the first homes in Spalding to its faster internet connections last year - and aims to reach 200,000 homes in south Lincolnshire later this year.

Its ‘wave one’ towns include Bourne, Holbeach and Market Deeping as well as Spalding.
