Additional police presence in place for Spalding Flower Parade
There will be an additional police presence in Spalding for this weekend’s popular Flower Parade, to ensure the public have an ‘enjoyable and safe time’.
Tens of thousands of revellers attended last year’s return of the popular event, and similar numbers are expected to return again on Saturday (May 11).
Lincolnshire Police confirmed there will be additional officers on duty in the area to aid with ‘community reassurance and safety’.
“We would like to reiterate that the coordination of the event, the traffic management and safety of the event are the responsibility of the organiser of the parade,” a spokesperson said.
“The police’s role is for engagement, community reassurance and wider safety.
“Naturally, we will have additional police officers on duty to engaging with the public ensuring that people have an enjoyable and safe time.”
Police flew a drone over the crowds at last year’s parade, although there are currently no plans for it to return this year.
