Donington business given permission to build new HQ off the A17 at Sutterton

A horticultural supplies business can build a new 29,000m² HQ in the area, planners say.

Dejex Supplies Ltd – which is currently based in Donington – has received permission to construct a commercial warehouse facility which includes offices, sales area and associated landscaping and parking.

The proposed site is located at the junction of the A17 and Broad Lane, approximately 1.2km southwest of Sutterton village centre and located within open countryside.

“The proposed development is for the erection of a warehouse building with an office and trading counter area for a horticultural and agronomy supplies company,” the Boston Borough Council planning officer’s statement read.

“This site would in effect become the main site for the company, vacating existing premises elsewhere.

“To the west of the site is an attenuation pond, wildflower planting and external storage area, and to the south of the proposed building is a parking area.

“Within the building to the south houses open-plan office space and a trade counter area for commercial customers.

“A new access into the site is proposed off Broad Lane, in close proximity to the A17 junction, where the road is wider and capable of taking two way traffic.”

Lincs Wildlife Trust objected to the development due to the current habitat of the proposed site while a third party representation requested ‘swift nest bricks are incorporated into the design of the development’.

“The proposal seeks to provide Dejex Supplies Ltd, a growing local business, with a new base of operations,” the design and access statement produced by Jonathan Hendry Architects said.

“The facility will house a 3265m² warehouse, 400m² office space and a 260m² trade counter area for commercial customers.”

“The site currently sits vacant following its acquisition by Dejex Supplies Ltd,” the statement added.

“Previously owned by Boston Seeds, it was used for growing and developing varieties of grass seed and wildflowers.”
