South Holland Ambassador Star Perry and deputy Holly Kendrick will be taking part in the Jersey Battle of Flowers Parade
Our South Holland Ambassador and her deputy will represent the area at their first large event.
Star Perry and Holly Kendrick will be flying to Jersey in August to take part in the Battle of Flowers Parade.
As was tradition in the past, the duo (pictured) will be riding on a float for St Helier in the event.
Spalding Flower Parade organiser Steve Timewell visited the event in Jersey last year, to take inspiration but to also forge new relationships with the organisers.
He said: “I was always determined to try to rekindle the cultural link between Jersey and South Holland.
“Our Ambassadors will put that in motion in August – I think it’s important for South Holland to connect with other places.”
Steve says South Holland District Council will be making a ‘financial contribution to make it happen’, while a special gift will be sent with the girls to present to the Constable of St Helier on behalf of the authority.
The Battle of Flowers is now in it’s 126th year and is one of the largest floral parades in the world.
“Seeing our girls in the parade will be amazing,” Steve, who will be tagging along on the trip, added.
“I’m so proud I have managed to pull it off.”
