Young Spalding business owner hoping to expand nail salon
A young business owner is hoping to expand her popular nail bar into an empty shop in Spalding town centre.
Amber Parish (22) was inspired to start Painted Lady when she was just 18 and has now built up a successful business sculpting artistic nails for clients in her Vine Street salon.
Miss Parish has also won the 5* nail salon in the East Midlands Beauty Industry Awards.
Due to the popularity of the business, Miss Parish is hoping to move into the former Charmed Interior shop in Sheep Market, where she is also hoping to create a training academy.
Miss Parish, who attended the University Academy Holbeach, said: "It is nerve-racking but I have always been the sort of person to go for what I want. You have to do a bit of research and have a little faith."
Miss Parish started off her business from her mum's living room after deciding to swap from a legal career and gained the first of many qualifications.
She said: "I am more of an artistic person so I fell in love with it.
"I was really academic at school and people don't realise how science based it is. You need to know the biology of nails and the skin.
"I love the aspect that it is artistic as well. You can show your creative side and I am a people person as well.
"The beauty industry can have a bad reputation and people sometimes say you go into it if you don't have any other options. I don't think that is the case as it is a growing business with so many aspects to it."
Miss Parish sculpts her creations by building the acrylic from a client's natural nail.
Her work has been noticed by award judges. She said it was a shock to win but proud of the achievement.
