Baston village is pulling out all the stops for their Abba-themed Fireworks Extravaganza on Bonfire Night

A village will be ‘Abba-solutely’ pulling out all the stops for their annual firework and music event.

With an Abba-themed evening display, the 15th Baston Firework Extravaganza is set to take place on Sunday, November 5, at Brudenell Playing Fields.

The organisers hope attendees will be ‘having the time of their lives’, enjoying the funfair, food court, and early children’s fireworks, with the main display starting at 7pm.

Baston Events committee member Niamh Addy said: “It is a unique event! It’s a labour of love, organised by volunteers from the village who work to create an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike, while raising funds for local charities and community needs.

“We’re delighted to work again with renowned Spalding-based Pyrovision who create stunning firework displays for clients such as The Royal Family and The Edinburgh Tattoo.

“Their mesmerising pyrotechnics will light up the Baston sky.”

The day’s activities should certainly start with a bang – beginning at 3pm with the funfair.

Mrs Addy said: “We hope people will be astounded by the scale and professionalism of the production – it certainly has the wow factor”.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and with discounted prices until October 29, those interested need to bring their ‘money, money, money’ for a show inspired by everyone’s favourite Swedish supergroup.

Abba fans are encouraged to dress up for the experience as the pinnacle of the evening sees fireworks being choreographed meticulously to the Eurovision-winning group’s epic soundtrack.

Mrs Addy said: “What sets this event apart is our not-for-profit ethos. The driving force behind it is the desire to give back. We make sure every penny raised is funnelled back into the community”.

Mrs Addy highlighted the community-oriented nature of the event, stating: “The event is put on by the village, for the village and our local community.

“The proceeds have enabled us to contribute £10,000 towards our village primary school’s new STEM zone, lend our support to the Bourne-based mental health charity, Don’t Lose Hope, and sustain our backing for diverse local community initiatives”.

The fireworks event draws some three and a half thousand people to Baston.

Mrs Addy said: “Even with the relatively small size of our village, we have the capacity, facilities, and experience to deliver an event of this magnitude.

“We are amazed by the distances people travel to attend the event! It’s special to see such a dedicated following, with loyal fans returning year after year”.

What visitors can expect from Baston’s Abba themed Fireworks Extravaganza:

*3pm Funfair – ‘Take a chance’ on a variety of funfair rides, including bumper cars and teacup rides

*4pm Food court – ‘gimme gimme gimme a naan after 4pm’ with diverse food produced locally

*5.30pm – (Knowing me), knowing you, you’ll want to take advantage of an earlier fireworks display for children – not as noisy or overwhelming and very popular

*7pm – Dancing Queens get ready for the main Abba themed fireworks display. Get those flares on – and be ‘thankful for the music’.

Tickets are available from the Baston Post Office and Village Store and will not be available at the gate.
