Stars from hit TV show visit Long Sutton and Weston
Experts from the hit BBC show Antiques Road Trip were filming in South Holland at the weekend.
Philip Serrell and Natasha Raskin were at Long Sutton Antiques and Crafts Centre on Sunday before Natasha made a solo visit to Baytree Antiques at Weston.
Colin Whitwell, from the centre in London Road, Long Sutton, said: “It was very, very good. They were here first thing in the morning and they were here until after lunch.”
The centre has hosted visits from Antiques Road Trip stars in the past, including Philip and fellow regulars James Braxton, Charles Hanson, Paul Laidlaw and Mark Stacey.
Colin said usually the experts visit singly but it was nice to see two together.
“They were very friendly - the whole crew were - and they were chatting to everybody,” said Colin.
Buys from the visits will be unveiled when the show goes out.
Iain Anderson runs 3 Pieces of Eight Antiques alongside David and Anne Marie Carter’s Funked Up Furniture at Baytree.
They opened in December 2016 and Sunday was their first experience of the Antiques Road Trip, although Iain has watched the show for many years.
Iain said: “Natasha arrived about 1.30pm, I believe, and she was with us for four hours. She was a very lovely lady.”
He believes the episode will be broadcast early next year - possibly February - and Sunday’s visit could be the first of many because the crew said they’d had “a really good time”.
The programme’s experts start out with a £200 budget and go head to head over five days to see who makes the most profits buying antiques and selling them at auctions. Profits go to Children In Need.
Philip Serrell, who has his own auction house in Malvern, Worcestershire, is a familiar face on BBC shows Bargain Hunt and Flog It.
Natasha Raskin, who also appears on those shows, is a Scottish antiques and art expert.
Patrick Horan, a member of Long Sutton Market House Photography Group, caught the stars on camera at the town’s antiques centre.
Patrick said: “I just heard they were filming there and popped down to take some pictures.”
