Spalding 5G mast planning appeal dismissed as Three operator fails again
An appeal to erect a 5G mast in Spalding has been dismissed.
The Planning Inspectorate has found that Three network operator C K Hutchinson’s bid to put up a 15m pole in Wygate Park would cause ‘significant harm’ to the area.
This is a double blow to the company which was also denied planning permission to install a 15m pole in Birch Grove, Spalding, by South Holland District Council in its latest in a series of applications.
In giving a decision on the Wygate Park application, the planning inspector stated: “I have found that the proposal would cause significant harm to the character and appearance of the area due to its siting and appearance, to which I give significant weight.
"This harm is also not sufficiently outweighed by a demonstration of a lack of alternative sites and therefore a need for the proposed monopole in this specific location.
"Although I give substantial weight to the benefits of the proposal as identified above, this does not outweigh the harm, and the wider requirements of the Framework and the conflict with the development plan.”
