Appeal to make design changes to five energy storage facilities in Spalding, Holbeach and Gosberton
An appeal to make design changes to five micro energy storage facilities around a district is set to be discussed.
South Holland District Council’s Planning Committee gave permission for AMP Clean Energy to site boxes in locations in Spalding, Holbeach and Gosberton in September.
However, the applicant has requested that plans be modified due to a change in manufacturer.
These micro energy storage facilities hold electricity from periods of low demand or high generation to be stored for periods of peak usage or high demand.
The boxes are to be situated on three Spalding plots at Parkside Crescent, Holbeach Road and Roman Bank as well as land to the east of Boston Road in Holbeach and land at Whitehall/Belchmire Lane in Gosberton.
SHDC owns the land on which the projects will be sited.
“The variation seeks to change the design and specifications of the battery box as the project now involves a different original equipment manufacturer,” the planning officer report said.
“While the OEM has changed the capacity of the units and the overall operational functionality of the system remain entirely unchanged.”
The planning committee will discuss the application at a meeting on Wednesday (April 2).
