Application to convert historic inn to housing




Plans to convert former a pub-restaurant into housing have been submitted to South Holland District Council.

The applicants hope to change the use of the Mermaid Inn at Surfleet to five apartments.

Plans for the site also include the erection of a terrace of three two-storey dwellings, one single storey dwelling and associated demolition and alteration to existing access off Stockhouse Lane.

The earliest record of the Gosberton Road venue being an inn was made in 1808.

The Mermaid Inn was was designated a grade II listed building in May this year.

The application has been made by Robert Doughty Consultancy Limited on behalf of Mr G. and Mrs J. Swindells.
