Budget retailer B&M is creating 60 jobs by opening its second store in Spalding.

B&M, which already has a busy store on Winsover Road, is due to open its new store for the first time at 9am on Saturday, September 22 in the former Homebase premises on Westlode Street.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including toys, food and drink, pet items, health and beauty and homewares, as well as B&M's own chilled and frozen range.

The store will also boast an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range.

A B&M spokesman said: "We're feeling really positive about the creation of even more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

"We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door in a few weeks."

Job roles are advertised on the B&M careers website and include sales assistants, floor managers and cleaners.

A spokesman for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) said this week that B&M had dates booked to do interviews at Spalding JobCentre Plus, which is based inside South Holland District Council's offices in Priory Road.

The company employs 26 people at its Winsover Road site.

l B&M is a fast-growing discount retailer, operating from more than 580 high street and out of town stores across the UK, as well as under the JA Woll brand in Germany.

In 2017, B&M acquired Heron Foods - which has a branch in Sheep Market, Spalding.

B&M was founded in 1978 by Malcolm Billington and opened its first store in Blackpool.

Homebase closed its Spalding store in mid-July.
