Nursery pupils at Sunflower Lodge Childcare in Pinchbeck raise money for Ukraine conflict with cake sale and sponsored walk at Glebe Field

Nursery youngsters have been doing their teachers proud by raising funds to support those affected by the Ukraine crisis.

Pupils at Sunflower Lodge Childcare in Pinchbeck decided to host a cake sale and embark on a sponsored walk after learning about the conflict.

They made sure that every parent was accounted for at the sale after putting their baking skills to good use at home.

Nursery owner Lisa Oddie said her ‘schoolies’ had recently formed a council, and that the first thing they wanted to do was raise money.

“We spoke to them about what they wanted to raise money for, and obviously they’re learning about Ukraine,” she said.

“So they wanted to send it to Ukraine to help the children.”

After their cake sale, pupils visited the Glebe Field and completed five laps of the football pitch.

They managed to raise a whopping £636, before one generous parent rounded the total up to £1,000.

“It’s amazing,” Lisa added.

“It’s so lovely that they thought of others. It’s nice to see that kindness in them.

“They were so passionate about it. They made posters and went around asking their parents what they could bake.”
