Bakkavor applies to demolish factory in Holbeach St Marks

A food manufacturing giant has applied for permission to demolish one of its factories.

Bakkavor wants to knock down Building H (the old salads factory) at its Holbeach St Mark’s site and has applied to South Holland District Council for permission to go ahead.

The planning application has described the factory building as ‘derelict’ and has been vacant for more than a decade with no plans for its future.

Documents listed with the application include a letter to nearby neighbours which states that the work would take approximately eight to 10 weeks.

It states: “The work will be carried out within daytime hours and there are no current plans for any work to be done at the weekends.

“There will be dust suppression, and the demolition area will have hoarding to control debris. There will be no road closures involved and noise will be kept to a minimum. There will be more vehicle movements to take away the unwanted material from the site, with HGVs travelling down the access road to the site.

“We understand that this demolition may cause some inconvenience. Please be assured the team is working diligently to minimise the impact on the community and complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
