Spalding motorist banned for drink-driving offence in Gedney Hill
A Spalding motorist has been banned for 19 months for a drink-driving offence in Gedney Hill.
Brett Foyle (28) appeared before Boston Magistrates’ Court to plead guilty to the offence on February 11.
The hearing was told that just after midnight, police received a report that a shirtless man driving an Audi RS3 was possibly over the alcohol limit.
The car was spotted coming towards police with a headlight out and swerving over the road, said prosecutor Fiona McClelland.
The officers turned around and found the car parked on the driveway of a property in West Drove South with the engine and lights switched off.
Foyle, of Little London, failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.
”He said he’d taken a quantity of co-codamol that evening and because of this they took him to Pilgrim Hospital for his own safety,” added Miss McClelland.
A urine sample gave a reading of 213 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres; the legal limit being 107.
Philippa Chatterton, mitigating, said her client had mental health issues and had been going through an “extremely difficult time”.
She said Foyle had left a property and driven a short distance intending to sleep in the car but then returned.
The disqualification can be reduced with completion of a drink-driver rehabilitation course.
Foyle was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £48 victim surcharge.
