South Holland residents warned of 'extensive strike action over Christmas period
The public have been warned to expect ‘extensive strike action’ over the Christmas period.
Rail journeys will be heavily affected locally this week, while there will also be two days of postal strikes.
Meanwhile, East Midlands Ambulance Workers will stage 24-hour walk outs either side of Christmas.
A statement from East Midlands Railway said: “There is extensive strike action by the RMT, UNITE the Union and TSSA affecting EMR services in December and January including over the holiday period.”
Trains through Spalding will not run from today (Tuesday) until Friday.
EMR Regional will run a heavily reduced service over these days, but the Peterborough-Spalding line - which passes through Spalding - will not operate.
Further strike action is also planned for December 17-18 and December 23-27.

Royal Mail have announced four strike dates in the build-up to Christmas - beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, December 14).
Day two of industrial action will be held on Thursday.
The Communication Workers’ Union also announced further strikes planned for next week in the final two days before Christmas. Further industrial action will take place on Friday, December 23 and Saturday, December 24.
The union GMB has confirmed its members working for East Midlands Ambulance Service will strike across two dates in December.
The 24-hour strikes by paramedics, emergency care assistants and call handlers will be held place on Wednesday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 28.
About 2,000 East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) workers — about half its total workforce — will walk out.
