Holbeach festival backed to save our summer

Hopes are high that the ever-popular Holbeach Music & Beer Festival will go ahead in August after being one of so many events falling victim to the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.

And this year’s event – from Friday, August 6 to Sunday, August 8 – promises to be better than ever, with even more on offer.

As well as a stellar line-up of great cover bands, an impressive range of beers and ciders and a funfair, camping food and a VIP area, there are new attractions this year.

The beach-themed event is now offering a weekend ‘glamping’ experience, alongside a cocktail bar, real sand beach area and kids’ zone.

Also new for this year are inflatables, a limbo competition, surf simulator, face painting and a stilt walker, plus free circus skills and bubble workshops.

Organiser Sean Taylor said: “The disappointment and cancellation of last year’s event really focused our minds on everything we take for granted.

“We certainly have had lots of time for reflection on all the activities we socially enjoy.

“But with the announcement on February 22 laying down the road map out of lockdown we became optimistic that this year’s festival could go ahead.”

The festival has grown every year since Sean started it in 2015, and this year some 15,000 attendees are expected over the three days.

Sean added: “We have always invested in the best bands, stage, sound, lighting and production that you rarely see at small festivals.

“We have now built a reputation for being one of the best value for money and well organised family friendly events in Lincolnshire.

“We are now attracting camping guests from all over the UK, including Newcastle to Southampton and Liverpool to Norwich, with many towns in between, which is totally overwhelming and something we are really proud of.

“This year we’ve had an unprecedented demand for tickets. We sold over 1,000 within three weeks of the Government’s ‘road map announcement’ including over 350 camping guests.

“We have been really well supported with very generous businesses wanting to sponsor the festival this year.

“So many companies have approached ourselves offering financial endorsements, which makes the festival possible.”

The festival is also doing its bit for the environment this year by using polycarbonate pint and half pint cups.

These will be available to purchase over the weekend or free when you purchase £30 of drink tokens online.

There is free parking for the event, a free local shuttle bus and free admission for under-12s.
