Cowbit Parish Council to celebrate village history
A village’s historical landmarks will be celebrated under a new project.
Cowbit Parish Council is looking at plans to create a historical village notice board to celebrate the various landmarks.
These could include the Roman Road, railway line and the site of where punt guns are fired over the Cowbit Wash for coronations and jubilees.
- Plans to celebrate the King’s Coronation later this year are well underway.
Cowbit, which last year hosted a very successful celebration for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, will be holding Fun on the Field on Sunday, May 7.
The event is due to start at lunchtime and run until it gets dark.
- Cowbit Parish Council is still waiting to find out if it will be able to increase its membership.
Currently the council is made up of five councillors but they have applied to South Holland District Council to add two further councillors onto its books.
They are waiting for this community governance review to be ratified by the district council.
- The village’s community speed watch has been out twice in November.
