Big reunion day for famous Spalding 'family' firm
Memories of a famous Spalding business will be shared by former workers, customers and their families at a reunion event next month.
The 114th anniversary of the founding of H. Leverton and Company will be celebrated at Spalding Services and Social Club, High Street, Spalding, on Sunday, October 28, from 12.30pm until 5.30pm.
Established in 1904 by Herbert Leverton and Fred Myers, the business started out as a car repairs garage but became a national and international supplier of agricultural and construction machinery.
Dave Barnett (60), who worked in the parts team at Leverton's, said: "We're calling it the '114 Reunion' and it'll be a social gathering of ex-employees, families, friends and ex-customers of Leverton's.
"There will be old photographs and a film of Leverton's before it closed down in 2004.
"A lot of people who worked at Leverton's still live in the Spalding area but some of the older ones have passed away so we're having a big reunion to remember them."
Leverton's was the main dealer in Caterpillar machinery, serving depots from Tyne and Wear to Kent.
Its main base in Spalding was at Westlode Street and Dave said: "We're a family and everybody would help everybody."
