Big screen draws crowd to Donington Market Place for England v Croatia
England v Croatia created a unique moment in Donington's history as a crowd of 250-300 people watched the crucial World Cup semi-final on a big screen.
"It was amazing," said parish and district councillor Jane King. "When the National Anthem was played at the beginning of the match, the entire Market Place erupted into song."
The 100-inch screen was loaned by Jonathan Pearson and set up on the back of a tractor trailer while the audience brought their own chairs.
Sadly it wasn't to be England's night but the team have still kept their place in people's hearts for the way they played and how they have united the country.
Coun King said: "The England team have brought people together .. and last night you could see people being completely united by a football match.
"The live screening was a total novelty for Donington and I think everyone completely enjoyed it."
The screening went ahead with the permission of the parish council, who own Market Place, and there was a lot of support from businesses, including Debbie Hood and Maureen Pritchard, from Corner House Flowers.
Food businesses, like the fish and chip shops, did well at half-time and some people popped to the Black Bull, which was also screening the match, for a spot of refreshment.
