South Holland Centre, Spalding, to host Mr and Miss England 2019 bodybuilding show this Saturday
About 40 bodybuilders from across the UK are aiming to be in peak physical condition for a competition in Spalding on Saturday.
Mr and Miss England 2019 will be decided at South Holland Centre where entrants in 18 categories will be putting their bodies on the line in front of a judging panel.
There will also be a guest appearance by Spalding personal trainer Vaiva Sharman who has qualified for the IBFA (International Bodybuilding and Fitness Association) World Finals in Rome on November 3.
Joe Sharman, Vaiva's husband and co-organiser of the show alongside Vernon Gay, owner of Heroes Gym in Pinchbeck, said: "Saturday's show is a qualifier for the IBFA British Finals in June 2020 so it's an opportunity for athletes to secure their places for that.
"But we're also offering wild card places for the IBFA World Finals and so if athletes are good enough, they could be selected to compete in Rome.
"The overall winners of the show will receive a specially-made trophy (based on King Arthur's Excalibur sword)."
It is the third year running that Spalding has hosted a big event in the bodybuilding calendar, with the area to be represented at Saturday's show by Weston Hills' Tony Milson and Spalding's Cheryl Harman.
Vernon said: "The show has grown bigger each year but now that it has the title Mr and Miss England, we've got a bigger mix of athletes than before.
"People who have taken part before told me that it's one of the best shows on the circuit because we're able to put up digital images of the athletes on the stage behind them.
"I think it's a great thing for Spalding because it gives the town an extra dimension that it didn't really have before."
Joe added: "South Holland Centre really likes hosting the show because it brings people into the town who wouldn't normally come to Spalding.
"We've got a good reputation amongst the athletes who love our event because it has a cinematic screen that the show makes the most of.
"My wife Vaiva will be doing a guest spot, to music by Michael Jackson, and we'll also have a young lad called Kian Mills appearing in a full Spartan costume to encourage youngsters into the sport."
Tickets for the show, priced £15, are available in advance from Heroes Gym, Edison Court, Pinchbeck, or on the day.
