Long Sutton Men's Shed boosted by £1,000 donation from Lincolnshire and South Holland councillor

A men's group will be able to increase its facilities thanks to a £1,000 donation.

Members of Long Sutton Men's Shed were presented with a cheque by Coun Chris Brewis, who sits on both Lincolnshire County and South Holland District Councils.

The Men's Shed was set up in 2017 to provide opportunities for men to socialise, find mutual interest and share skills and experience.

Since then, it has grown in popularity with a total of 65 members as well as undertaking a number projects, including creating a stand for St Matthew's Church Processional Cross.

Currently, the shed is closed due to coronavirus but members are hoping to return as possible.

Coun Brewis presented the cheque for the donation, which was taken from a county council budget, to members on Thursday at the club's site in Silverwood Garden Centre, Long Sutton.

He said: "TheMen's Shed has provided an inspirational centre for mainly older men to share and learn skills.

"Members from our local communities tell me how it has transformed their lives."

The money will be used to help extend the shed to provide more space, including a learning and training area.

Chairman Ray Cutbill has thanked Coun Brewis for the donation.

He said: "It is sincerely needed as we are doing a lot of work to the shed.

"The money is going to be very useful for all the work we are going to be doing and planning to do."
