Whaplode Drove Rovers and Yaxley Football Club charity match raises £560 in aid of Crowland boy Oaklen Pearce and The LimbBo Foundation
A charity football match has raised £560 for a foundation that has helped a toddler with a rare genetic condition.
Whaplode Drove Rovers played a friendly against Yaxley Football Club in aid of The LimbBo Foundation which has helped Nicole Pearce and her two-year-old son Oaklen.
The recent match was arranged by Harrison Pearce , uncle of Oaklen, 2, from Crowland who has a rare unnamed condition that affects all four of his limbs.
Oaklen’s nana Emma Pearce said: “It was a really good night and Oaklen was in his element.
“He liked being the centre of attention and it was a good amount raised.
“It was a good game with a 4-2 win to Yaxley and it was played in a really good spirit.”
The brave toddler’s medical condition means that his left hand is fused together, he has missing fingers and fusion of toes.
One side of his body his bones are shorter - yet the youngster who adores animals ‘always has a smile on his face’.
He faces further hospital visits and potential leg lengthening surgery when he is older.
Oaklen was presented with a framed signed shirt from the Whaplode Players and three season tickets for the family.
Further charity events are planned - next year Nicole will be taking part in a skydive as part of her £2,000 target in aid of the foundation who have supported and advised the family.
Fundraising will go towards organising free events for children and their families to meet others like them and to support an expecting parent of a limb-different baby.
Nicole said: “When no one really understood, LimbBo became a family and they can help others like they helped me.
“The football club has rallied round to raise as much as possible for the foundation.
“It is so amazing.”
