Broken down train blocks line between Spalding and Sleaford




The train line between Spalding and Sleaford has been blocked all day.

Trains have not been able to pass through the area due to a broken down train on the line near Sleaford, which was first reported at about 5:30am today (Tuesday).

A rescue train is understood to be on site now but it is thought that the issues along the line are set to continue into the late afternoon.

The issue has been disrupting trains on the Peterborough/Lincoln/ Doncaster and Newark North Gate/Lincoln routes throughout the day.

A statement on the East Midlands Railway website said: “Trains running through the area in the Peterborough direction from Lincoln cannot run between Sleaford and Peterborough and will terminate at Sleaford.

“Trains running through the area in the Sleaford/ Lincoln direction from Peterborough cannot run between Spalding and Sleaford and will terminate at Spalding.

“Services have been updated in journey planners so please check your journey before you travel.

“At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed at approximately 16:00. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again.

“We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 16:30.”
