British Cactus and Succulent Society holds successful event at Holbeach Community Centre

There were a few ‘prickly customers’ at a cactus mart which drew visitors from far and wide.

An estimated 300 people supported the British Cactus and Succulent Society event which was held at the Holbeach Community Centre on Saturday.

Visitors – which included two coachloads from Norfolk and the north of the country – enjoyed looking after the 16 stalls which were selling a wide variety of plans.

The event was so successful that the organisers are planning another in the future.

A spokesman said: “Everyone went home happy - the nurseries lighter due the number of plants sold, and the public heavier through all the plants they bought. We made a lot of people very happy

“We are optimistic and excited that through the event we will have recruited a few new members to the British Cactus and Succulent Society (BCSS) and even a few for our small Spalding branch.”
