Notty’s Coffee and Wine Bar in Market Deeping donates money to Cancer Research UK via the Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies fundraising group
Wine bar customers and staff have raised £2,200 to help research into all types of cancer.
A cheque from Notty’s Coffee and Wine Bar was presented to the Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies fundraising group on Tuesday evening in Market Deeping.
The money was raised from events such as quiz nights at the venue in High Street.
Chairperson of the Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies, Ann Hanson, visited to receive the donation. She said: “I would like to express our sincere thanks to Notty’s Coffee and Wine Bar and their customers for their generosity.
“It’s thanks to people like these that we have been so successful in raising such an incredible amount of funds over so many years.”
The Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies group launched in 1974 and has since raised more than £1.5million. Any donations to the group go to Cancer Research UK and its efforts to prevent, diagnose and treat all types of cancer.
Regional spokesperson Gill Burgess said: “The Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies have made a huge contribution to Cancer Research UK’s work over the past 49 years and we are incredibly grateful for the significant role they have played in helping us to continue our life-saving work.
“Our determination to beat the disease hasn’t faltered and we are more focussed than ever on our ambition of seeing three in four people survive their cancer by 2034.
“However our progress relies on the incredible dedication and commitment of volunteers and supporters like the Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies without whom we would not be able to fund our life-saving work.”
