Spalding fire crew called to vehicle blaze in London Road

A car crashed into a barrier and then burst into flames near a busy Spalding junction last night.

Firefighters were called to an incident on London Road – close to Little London bridge - just before 6pm. Eye witnesses reported seeing the vehicle burned down to just its chassis.

A fire service spokesman says the incident left ‘severe fire damage’ to a car, with a crew from Spalding putting the fire out using a hose reel and breathing apparatus.

The spokesman said: “This was caused by the brakes failing and car colliding with barrier.”

The condition of the occupants of the vehicle is unclear.
