Spalding shop J.F. Inkley remains open for business despite car crashing through window
A Spalding shop remains open for business despite a vehicle crashing through its shop window yesterday.
The damage to traditional clothing store J.F Inkley was caused at approximately 3pm on Sunday afternoon, breaking the glass and knocking down a supporting beam.
“I’m getting ready for the autumn and Christmas trade, and I do a lot of selling through my window displays,” explained Andrew Inkley, who runs the family-owned Francis Street store, which was set up by his father in 1960.
“I’ve never known anything like this before. And I never want to again.”
It is understood the vehicle reversed into the building.
Mr Inkley was not at the store when the damage was caused, alerted by the alarm company.
Mr Inkley, who confirmed no damage was done to his stock, was waiting to hear from his insurance company when he spoke to the Spalding Guardian.
A Lincolnshire Police statement said it had received information relating to ‘a single-vehicle collision on Vine Street, Spalding, reported at 4.02pm’.
It added: “The vehicle has caused damage to the shop’s window. No injuries reported.”
