Magnolia said: “After having a baby and being made redundant from banking, I decided the time was right for a career change. My aim is to study at a higher level for a career in Adult Nursing, which I need a GCSE English qualification to pursue.

“I am so relived and happy to have achieved a grade 5 allowing me to apply for a place at university for next September. I studied at the Boston College Spalding Campus where the classes were once a week in the evening - which made it possible for me to fit around my family commitments and childcare.”

Claire Foster, Boston College’s Principal and CEO, has priased the hard work of students like Magnolia.

She said: “Our students have done remarkably well, in this, the first year of full, formal examinations after the pandemic. We are so excited for those learners who have finally passed their GCSEs today.

“I know how exactly that will feel for them and their families. It’s been a tough time for these young people and we will continue to offer all the support we can to make sure that even more learners can achieve retake success in the critical subjects of English and maths.”

Places are still available on GCSEs for September, as well as other courses at Boston College

. For more information, visit the Enrolment Event on Thursday, August 31, 4pm –8pm at the Rochford Boston Campus or Tuesday, September 5, 5pm – 7pm at the Spalding Campus.
