Spalding's Sense charity shop is targeted by raiders

A Spalding charity shop suffered thousands of pounds worth of damage after a break-in where cash and donated items were stolen.

It happened at the Sense shop, in Station Street, which was targeted by thieves on Saturday, September 18.

The shop raises money to support people with complex disabilities, including those who are deafblind, and staff are now asking for the public's help by donating money and items, or by volunteering.

Marina Verlander, area manager for Sense, said: "I am shocked that anyone would want to target and needlessly damage a charity shop in this way.

"It has been a difficult year for everyone and our shop only reopened in June after months of closure due to the pandemic.

"Since reopening, it has been great seeing the community come together and helping us to raise funds which support people with complex disabilities.

"We would be very grateful if the Spalding community could come together again to help us bounce back from this incident, which has been an extremely upsetting one for our staff."

Anyone with information should call Spalding Police Station on 101, quoting incident reference 57 of September 19.
