Cash boost for Spalding Gymnastics Club

A gymnastics group has been gifted £1,000 from a building company.

Spalding Gymnastics Academy has received the funds from Persimmon Homes East Midlands through its long-running Community Champions initiative.

The money will be used to buy new equipment and ease pressures when the academy re-opens after Covid-19 lockdown.

Lynn Bell, for the academy, said: “The return to sport in 2020 cost the club greatly and the numbers of children who will be returning is unpredictable.

“Our normal streams of income have been badly affected, yet we have to continue with the extra measures and cleaning to reopen it all comes with a high price.

“This welcome donation will enable us to purchase additional equipment so that the club can continue facilitating child development while adhering to Covid.”

Nova Eames, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said: “Sports fans everywhere are desperate to get back to their activities and it is vitally important for both their physical and mental wellbeing.

“We are delighted that our donation will support the gymnasts getting back to the activities they love. This is exactly what our Community Champions scheme is all about, supporting good causes to make a positive change in the areas we work and live.”

Persimmon Homes East Midlands launched Community Champions in 2015 with a view to helping community groups, charities and good causes across the region.

Each month the Peterborough-based builder donates up to £2,000 to community groups.
