Hearts of Holbeach Awards 2020 now open for nominations
Businesses, community and sports groups in Holbeach and the surrounding villages are to be recognised for their "amazing resilience and adaptability" in 2020.
Nominations have opened this week for the first-ever Hearts of Holbeach Awards which are for retail, service, industrial and commercial and all other types of businesses in the town and villages, including Holbeach Drove, Holbeach Hurn, Holbeach St Johns and Holbeach St Marks.
Three finalists in ten different categories will be chosen by a panel of judges, based on the nominations received from the public, with a public vote to decide the winners who will be revealed during an online awards ceremony on Friday, December 18.
Holbeach district councillor Tracey Carter, who is behind the awards, said: "Holbeach has always been a great place because it has lots of brilliant people and a great community spirit within the area.
"Some of these people have absolutely shone out in what has been a tough year for businesses and groups.
"I've been really impressed by how businesses and groups have shown amazing resilience and adaptability to keep us all safe.
"I think it's right for people to say 'Thank You and Well Done' to them by supporting the Hearts of Holbeach Awards as it will give some of these businesses and groups the boost they need."
Businesses from South Holland are sponsoring each of the award categories, including headline sponsor Taylors Bulbs, of Holbeach.
Speaking on behalf of the family-run business, Lord Taylor of Holbeach said: "It is an honour for Taylors Bulbs to be the headline sponsor of these awards and Tracey Carter should be very much thanked for setting them in place.
"COVID-19 has been a testing time for all who live and work in Holbeach.
"Whether it is food produce, packing or distribution, all have been, and continue to be, affected.
"Retail and professional firms in the town and villages have also had to adjust to maintain the service they provide for people and the awards are designed to recognise this."
