Liberty X headlining live for Spalding Festival at Castle Sports Centre with tickets selling fast for the weekend music event
A chart-topping pop group has been revealed as the headline act for an upcoming beer and music festival.
Liberty X will play live at May’s Spalding Festival at the Castle Sports Centre - with organisers Spalding Round Table also promising more additions to come in a bid to make this their biggest event yet.
Chairman Matt Clark said: “From the outset we have promised to make this year the best to date.
“I’m thrilled to be adding a dance arena and community stage to the festivities, but the main stage deserves to be centre of attention.”
“It is great that we will still be playing host to some amazing regional bands, but we wanted a headliner with chart success and are happy to announce that 2000s sensation Liberty X have agreed to play our event.”
Liberty X were formed from the five runners up on hit ITV show Popstars in the early 2000s.
Having won Capital Radio band of the year shortly after that, they immediately went on to play a capacity Wembley Arena and released eight top ten hits - including for Children in Need - with multiple singles selling over one million copies.
Familiar songs such as Thinking It Over and Just A Little - a Platinum selling UK number one - will be performed live on stage on Saturday, May 25. The band consisted of Michelle Heaton, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young - with the three women remaining as a trio.
Mr Clark said: “This is not the only headliner that we are announcing in the coming days, and we have lots more new activities up our sleeves too.
“I am excited to be making so many improvements to the event and ensuring that it remains an important community and charity event across Lincolnshire.
“I’m further elated that ticket sales are already over three times that of even our most successful year.”
First release tickets have now sold out for the event, and second release tickets, offering £10 off the weekend package, will be taken off sale on April 28 or when the allocation is filled.
Information on the event, real ales, bar and food concessions, band lineup is all being released via the website www.spaldingfestival.co.uk, where information can also be found about sponsorship and volunteering.
Spalding Festival takes place at the Castle Sports Centre from Friday, May 24 until Sunday, May 26.
