Sutton St Edmund Parish Church hosts summer fete, with classic car show, tombola and afternoon tea
The grade II-listed Sutton St Edmund Parish Church was the perfect setting for a village fete on England's Midsummer weekend.
Afternoon teas, with strawberries and cream, a mini classic car display and tombola were held in the area of St Edmund's as a fundraiser for the church.
Jane Spriggs, churchwarden for St Edmund's, said: "This is our number one fundraiser for the year and usually we have classic cars on the churchyard.
"But this year, a landowner kindly let us put the cars on his drive."
Among the classic cars on display were a 1962 Austin Cambridge A60, Triumph Herald 1200, Ford Zephyr 1600 and a 1932 Dennis Lancet MJ 4549 school bus.
The Rev Mike Ongyerth, rector of St Edmund's Church, said: "I'm trying to engage more with the community and so this was a nice thing to do at a lovely church on the nearest Sunday to Midsummer's Day."
Coun Michael Seymour, South Holland District Council members for The Suttons ward, said: "I've been coming here regularly for a long time and it's one of the smallest villages in the district.
"But it's also one of the nicest and the church fete is good for Sutton St Edmund."
