Sutton Bridge Coastguard called out to boat stuck in The Wash

Coastguard rescue officers were called out to boat stuck in The Wash at Sutton Bridge late last night.

Five officers from HM Coastguard Sutton Bridge went out to the aid of a 36-foot boat grounded off Guys Head Road just before 10.30pm.

The officers - all volunteers who were paged into action - were joined by the RNLI Hovercraft from Hunstanton and helped to rescue two people from the boat.

A spokesman said that no medical help was needed for the people on board - and HM Coastguard Hunstanton issued some 'safety advice regarding the vessel'.

A spokesman said: "It was hoped that during high tide today the boat would become loose, re float and carry on its journey to Port of Wisbech. It is not believed there were any injuries."
