‘Colin’ the crimefighter will be based in Spalding
New equipment will be based in the South Holland area to help tackle crime.
Lincolnshire Police will be basing ‘Colin’ the drone at Spalding Police Station.
A police statement said: “Please welcome ‘Colin’ to the Lincolnshire Police drone fleet.
“Colin is based in Spalding Police area and will assist us in keeping the public safe, alongside his team mates Sherlock Drone, Cristiano Dronealdo, Issac and Apollo.”
Two years ago, Danny Griggs, of Fleet Wood Lane Primary School, won a competition to name a police drone with the suggestion Apollo.
Earlier this month, Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Paul Gibson warned of the ‘imminent withdrawal of core services’ and the loss of 400 people — police officers and support staff — as he tries to plug a £14 million hole in his budget.
Under fire Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones says financial challenges are ‘not a new problem’ for the county’s police force - and has refused to resign.
