Colourful parade led to up to Pinchbeck War Memorial rededication ceremony
A colourful parade set the tone for the rededication of a village war memorial.
Saturday’s event began with a parade from the Pinchbeck Hub to St Mary’s Church.
The Royal British Legion’s Lincolnshire Riders led the way with music playing from their flag-festooned motorbikes, while the Grimsby Pipe and Drum Band adding to the atmosphere.
Local Girl Guides, and Sea Scouts joined members of the RBL, the public and Pinchbeck Parish Council, along with guest standardbearers from the RAF, Merchant Navy and Norfolk RBL.
“It was a really good parade,” said Alan Canham, chairman of Pinchbeck Royal British Legion.
“The band was absolutely fantastic, marching behind a band makes it really.”
The annual rededication of the Lincolnshire county branch of the Legion was held in the church, followed by the rededication of the village’s war memorial.
“It’s important we do remember, but everything went really well on the day,” Mr Canham added.
Pinchbeck RBL concluded the day by presenting the village’s parish council with a certificate of appreciation for their ongoing support of their events as well as their funding of the memorial refurbishments.
