Community clear-up day planned for unsightly Spalding street

A community clean-up day is being planned for an untidy area of the town centre.

The state of The Crescent in Spalding has been raised by businesses and shoppers, who are fed-up with the weeds and the unslightly appearance of the former Sorting Office in the Spalding Guardian and LincsOnline website.

Spalding Wygate councilllor Aaron Spencer, who is also a property consultant at Sedge Homes which is based in the street, is running a community clear-up day on Wednesday, October 30, from 1pm.

Speaking at the last Spalding Town Forum meeting, Coun Spencer said: “I have several people walk past my office and every day comment about the state of the buildings down there with the weeds growing out of the paths. It looks terrible.

“I don’t now whether a town forum would do a community day where we take out a few black bags.

“Some of the bushes growing out of the buildings are terrible.”

His team are planning to start the clear-up from the old Sorting Office and move down.

Anyone who would like to take part is asked to turn up to the Sedge Office before 1pm on Wednesday.
