Conker is at Algarkirk rehoming centre and needs a nice quiet home

Here is the latest Man’s Best Friend column, written by staff at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Algarkirk.

Hello, my name’s Conker. I’m the gentlest soul. I’m a young lady on the shy side and I’m looking forward to moving into a nice quiet home.

I’m often found curled up in my bed and need a family who are hands off and don’t expect too much from me initially.

Once I’m comfortable I will show you my comical side. I love my teddies and watching the world go by from the window and of course spreading out over the entire sofa.

The outside world can be worrying. I’m most comfortable at home so I’ll need my own garden with grass to play on and sunbathe in. When I do go out for walks, I can be very strong on the lead so will need a family who can handle my strength.

I would like to be the only dog in the home. I have lived with a dog previously but I was a little bossy around resources. I have lots of dog friends of all shapes and sizes at the centre and I love going on walks with them, so I’d really love to make some new ones so we can hang out when I move into my new home.

I can be left for an hour or so, I suspect I’ll be able to be left for a few more once I’m settled. I can live with children over 14 years old and above, though a quiet household with not too many new people coming and going would be great.

Ideally my new family will live close by (within an hour of PE20 2BB) so I can get to know you in your home as well as at the centre. If you would like to learn a bit more about me then email my friends at South Lincolnshire on slincs@jerrygreendogs.org.uk asking for an application form. Don’t forget to leave your phone number. Sit Stay Fit sessions

Are you looking for a group where you can socialise and exercise your dog whilst learning about your dog’s health and wellbeing? Maybe our new Sit Stay Fit sessions are what you are looking for!

So what is it?

A monthly, hour-long session centred on canine health and wellbeing. Each month there will be a short talk, demonstration or workshop on a range of topics ranging anywhere from grooming to nutrition, followed by a social walk in the area surrounding the centre.

There is the option to weigh your dog in each month, which is a great option for overweight dogs to chart progress but is also useful to monitor growth in young dogs or simply to just be aware of your dog’s weight. These sessions are a great chance to learn about nutrition, socialise your dog and discover creative ways to keep your dog active.

How much is it?

There is no fee but any donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.

When

Sessions are the first Saturday of each month, 10am to 11am at the Algarkirk centre.
