Long Sutton Christmas light night saw a ‘constant flow’ of visitors

Proud organisers say they are delighted with the ‘constant flow’ of visitors to a popular Christmas event.

St Mary’s Church in Long Sutton was illuminated over the weekend and saw thousands of people attend the festive light-up event.

Pupils from the Long Sutton Primary School were asked to draw pictures of Christmas trees for the annual tradition, and were lit up on the outside of the church.

Visitors were also able to enjoy the silent disco, stilt walkers and fire dancers.

Organiser, Andy Tennant said: “This was our fifth year and it just keeps growing. We were delighted with the attendance this year and there was a constant flow.

“We overheard one family say they had never seen the church so full, which was great to hear.

“Our tech guy told us it is one of the best attended community events he deals with over Lincolnshire – and that’s why we put it on, we are so pleased it’s so well supported.

“I think we can hold our head up high and say we do a good job for Long Sutton. People were able to sit and listen to the music and it was just a great success.”

The event raises money which goes towards the cost of future events. The target for this year is £1,500 and so far, more than £1,000 has been raised on the Gofund me page.
