Holbeach Parish Council submits planning application to relocate into Park Road bungalow

A parish council has applied for permission to relocate its offices.

Holbeach Parish Council is looking to leave Coubro Chambers in the town’s West End, and move into a Park Bungalow, in Park Road - opposite Carter’s Park.

The council has submitted a planning application to South Holland District Council to change the use of the bungalow from residential to offices.

A statement issued by the council earlier today says: “Holbeach Parish Council is pleased to formally announce that it has applied for planning consent to relocate its offices to another building that is better suited to the day-to-day operations of the council.

“This strategic move is aimed at enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness, ultimately saving money for the community. This building has been part of the fabric of Holbeach for nearly 100 years and the parish council is keen to preserve this piece of history.

“The proposed new premises will be designed to be more efficient and cost-effective, ensuring that the council can operate more sustainably. Additionally, the new location, being closer to the park, will provide easier access for all visitors. Importantly, the new building will be fully disabled-friendly, reflecting the council’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

“This relocation is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to providing the best possible service to its parishioners. By moving to a more suitable and efficient office space, the council aims to improve its operational capabilities and better serve the community.”

The design and access statement says that the council is looking to use the existing sitting room as an office area and reception. A bedroom which overlooks the park will be used as the clerk’s office and a meeting room will also be created within the building.

However, some concerns have been raised about the application by Coun Sophie Hutchinson, who sits on both the parish and district councils.

In her ward member comments, which have been lodged on the council website, the councillor says she has ‘a number of concerns regarding missing or inaccurate information’.

She raises issues with the access, parking along with highlighting issues with the floor plan.
