Pinchbeck and Surfleet councillor resigns from Conservative Party due to shift to right
A councillor says she has resigned from the Conservative Party due to its shift to the right.
Coun Sally Slade has resigned from the national party and is politically unaligned on South Holland District Council.
The Pinchbeck and Surfleet councillor said: “I have left the national party because I do not agree with the direction the party has gone. It is now too far to the right for me.
“I do not have any issue with the local Conservative Party; I think they are doing a good job at SHDC.
“My personal beliefs have not changed but, as they no longer coincide with those of the Conservative Party, I am now non-aligned.”
