Countdown is on to Ayscoughfest as organiser plans free music festival in Spalding

Plans are well underway for a new music festival, which is set to take place in the picturesque grounds of an historic hall.

‘Ayscoughfest’ promises to be a fun family day out on Saturday, July 27 — with visitors able to enjoy musical fun from noon until 8pm at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens in Spalding.

The free event is organised by Mark Le Sage in conjunction with Spalding Town Forum. Mark said: “It’s going to be absolutely great, things are going really well and we are looking forward to it.

“We have some great music lined up, with singer songwriter, Meg McPartlin opening the event. I think it is important that people have things to do during the summer holidays with their kids. I know first hand from being a parent myself how difficult it can be and this is a free event.

“Ayscoughfee is an amazing facility and venue for Spalding and it has been a part of mine and my family's life.”

There will be a range of different stalls, vintage fair rides, face painters and traditional games — and Meg McPartlin will be opening the stage and then also playing outside the Red Lion Pub in the town centre from 8.30pm.

Mark added: “I am the original founder for Spalding Music Festival, so I am used to putting on these kind of events. It’s a natural progression for me to utilise the skills I’ve got and put something on at Ayscoughfee.

“We have some great music lined up and its all been very positive – we are all looking forward to it and the town forum and Harringtons cafe have been very supportive and a great support.”
