Market Deeping man admitted drink driving after crash in Godsey Lane

A man crashed his car moments from home while over the drink-drive alcohol limit.

Bharat Mistry, 58, who was twice the legal limit, was disqualified from driving for 18 months on Wednesday.

Boston Magistrates’ Court heard that his Kia Ceed collided with another vehicle at a mini roundabout in Godsey Lane, Market Deeping, the street in which he lives.

It happened at about 8.45pm on Tuesday, January 14.

Mistry was arrested after failing a roadside test, later blowing 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Prosecutor Marie Stace said the defendant told police in interview that his last drink had been at 6pm.

“Asked why he had driven after drinking, he said ‘it was just down the road, it was silly of me to do it',” added Miss Stace.

In mitigation, Stuart Wild said his client had been on the way to pick his daughter up after she finished work early and he was genuinely remorseful for the offence.

“He’s let his family down,” the solicitor added.

Mistry, who pleaded guilty to drink-driving, can cut the disqualification with completion of a rehabilitation course.

He was also fined £150 and ordered to pay £145 in costs and victim surcharge.
